Salisbury School Main Quad
Huestis Tucker Architects’ relationship with the Salisbury School, an all boys college preparatory school in Salisbury, Connecticut, began with a plan to redesign the school’s main quad. We designed a set of formal brick pathways to link the primary buildings together and re-graded the area to improve drainage and accessibility. This outdoor area forms the heart of the bucolic 740-acre campus and accommodates seating for graduation on the ‘senior steps’ of the main academic building. The new layout, grading, drainage, and paving patterns of the quad harmonize with the traditional architecture of the campus, and will give future generations of Salisbury School students surer footing as they pursue their education.
